Title:  Internship Mechanical Material Testing

The resource will be part of the Material Innovation Testing team based at the R&D Headquarter in Milan. 


The team's primary mission is to lead numerical modeling and experimental approaches for the prediction of wear and friction material behavior. The mechanical characterization of materials developed by the team have strong impact in the overall estimation of the product's final grip and mileage performance. The internship is target on the start-up of a new "state-of-art" Linear friction Tester (LFT) machinery for rubber-road surface friction coefficient measurement at different experimental conditions. The resource will support the team by guiding complex experimental and/or computational activities with their expertise, developing new test methodologies, processing, and in-depth data analysis, drafting reports and technical notes/presentations for internal stakeholders. Collaboration with universities and research activity will be followed during focus group activities.

 

The resource will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Collaboration for the development of new testing methodology or measurement procedures for LFT;
- Drive the LFT testing activities for product development in agreement with internal stakeholders;
- Support the team with evaluation of the experimental results;
- Python or Matlab coding for data processing/data visualization;
- Reporting activities and know-how sharing;
- Maintaining the archive of historical data and results;

 

Required skills and experience:
- Passionate about materials mechanical characterization research and daily R&D activity, open-minded and proactive in looking at new unknown challenges, able to work in Team;
- Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or similar background;
- Fluent in English;
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office package;
- Good knowledge of coding in Matlab or Python (at least one);
- Good knowledge of at least one software for 2D and 3D CAD technical drawings (preferable Autodesk AutoCAD)

Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience in testing laboratories will be considered a plus;
- Previous experience in automotive industry or vehicle dynamics (past internship or university courses) will be considered as plus;
