Maintenance Technical Coordinator
Pirelli UK Tyres Ltd – Carlisle
One of Europe’s leading tyre manufacturers, Pirelli UK Tyres Ltd, is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join us at our Carlisle factory.
The successful applicant will work 40 hours per week. 08:00-16:00 Monday to Friday.
Basic salary £53,001 per annum (2% pay increase pending)
This role is to support the Maintenance Area supervisor with the technical aspect of planning and execution of maintenance tasks, whilst driving improvements within the department. The role will be part office based part shop floor based, carrying out machinery reliability improvements and modifications, whilst also creating technical documentation to aid fault finding and to support improvements. Involvement in cross functional teams and meetings within the department.
Objective of the role is to work with the area supervisor and mechanical counterpart to ensure the department machinery operates safely, reliably, and to drive improvements in the area. To improve the knowledge transfer within the area team, developing maintainers and apprentices to a high skill level.
Reporting to the Maintenance Area Supervisor, main duties will include:
- Identification and ordering of spare parts
- Support the implementation of daily maintenance work and shutdown plans with area supervisor
- Create technical documentation to support with fault finding and problem solving
- Support electricians with complex machine faults
- Liaise with PED, I.T & Quality for machinery issues and improvements
- Reliability improvements of machinery
- Support the training and mentoring of electricians
- Training and mentoring apprentices
- Flexible and able to provide telephone assistance and call outs.
- Cover of maintenance area supervisor key tasks when absent (with support of maintenance manager)

Although predominantly working days, candidates must also have the flexibility to cover a 3 shift rotating pattern and weekends when necessary.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following abilities:
- Time served Electrician with appropriate Technical qualification
- Knowledge and experience of PLC controls and programming
- Knowledge and experience of Electrical Control systems
- Computer programming / fault finding skills desirable, willingness to learn these skills.
- Good knowledge of single and three-phased systems
- An exceptional problem solving ability
- Good communication
- Ability to work and communicate cross functionally
- Technical knowledge of processes and machinery
- Self-motivated, focussed and able to work on own initiative
- High level of resilience and able to work effectively under pressure
- Ability to learn fast, find information and pass on knowledge to others
- Microsoft office skills desirable
