Pirelli is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Computer Vision System Engineer. The ideal candidate will have at least 2–3 years of experience in an industrial setting. The successful applicant will join the Digital Factory Innovation department, contributing to the development of Computer Vision solutions aimed at improving the efficiency, quality, and sustainability of production processes. The chosen candidate will play a key role in developing advanced Computer Vision solutions to enhance Pirelli's manufacturing activities.
YOUR CORE ACTIVITIES
• Technology scouting: The candidate will identify and analyze vision system technologies and techniques to fulfill the system requirements (cameras, lights, full machines, different imaging technologies fusion..)
• Computer Vision Development: The candidate will contribute to designing and developing computer vision and advanced algorithms. These algorithms will focus on optimizing production workflows, reducing waste, and maintaining the highest standards of product quality, thereby enhancing productivity, quality, and sustainability in manufacturing processes.
• Collaboration with Stakeholders: The role involves regular interaction and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, including industrial partners. Strong communication skills are essential for translating internal departmental requests into vision system concepts or solutions and presenting industrial requirements effectively to external partners.
• Dataset Production: The candidate will project and realize complex industrial datasets, primarily composed of images. These efforts aim to improve efficiency and quality within the manufacturing domain.
• Communication: The ideal candidate must be capable of presenting findings and results clearly to both internal management and external partners. Presentations must be accessible and understandable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
• Master’s degree in computer science/computer engineering or related fields
• At least 2–3 years of experience in developing vision system solutions.
• Strong knowledge of state-of-the-art Computer Vision technology (quality inspections, optical flow, image quality, camera calibration, …)
• Strong knowledge of state-of-the-art Computer Vision image processing (filters, edge detection, image segmentation, image analysis, …)
• Proficiency in coding principles, particularly Python, C#, C++, as well as CV libraries like Opencv and Halcon
• Exceptional problem-solving and teamwork skills. Proficiency in Python visualization libraries is required, along with the ability to effectively report and present results using plots and detailed reports.
• Italian, English (both oral and written proficiency).
WHAT PUTS YOU IN POLE POSITION
• Deep Learning techniques applied to image processing.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and containerization technologies like Docker.
• Project management experience (multi and parallel projects).
COMPENSATION PACKAGE
• The employment contract will be regulated by “Gomma Plastica” National Collective Bargaining Agreement
• The gross annual base salary (RAL) offered will be no less than €35.000
• The Company is committed to offering a competitive compensation package and, following the selection process, may propose a final gross annual base salary above the stated level, commensurate with the candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications
